Infrastructure- the worst in the area. If only we could have a tarmac Road Wundanyi –Mgange-Bura and Mwatate-Bura- Taveta then business wise we prosper and economical improvement in the area. CDF poster like the one in LIKONI showing release of each year in order to ensure accountability;
Having roads we will ferry our products to the market like Milk and vegetable hence raising our living standards; Many businessmen quit the place especially when roads are impassable leaving the residents(farmers) into losses.
Poor Academic monitoring in schools have led to poor performance and inability to the students to access university hence low life esteem.
Our CDF can be put into Road tarmaking even if it’s a KILOMETRE per year but we would be heading to prosperity.
Deforestation is very evident just as you look up the Hills Vuria, Iyale, Susu, Nyangao and the rest you will realize trees are becoming lesser each day, yet we have forest guards, chiefs and concerned authorities; this will lead to severe rainfall shortage/hunger in the near future as all Taita/Taveta residents depends on rain for food production.
Milk is going into waste due to roads; farmers paid pea nuts in all their produce because of monopolistic access in that majority of buyers opted to areas accessible and the few that are available buy in low prices leaving producers at their knees!
Educative forums / rallies to be initiated targeting both primary and secondary schools so as to cover wide area with knowledge on how to make it in life.
Establishment of Small saving Societal groups; this will allow low income /occasional earners which we assume are 98% of the residents to access cash and establish their family in basic needs Education being the key.
Learning Facilities like colleges, computers should be brought to the nearest markets…not all people could travel in order to secure education; let our video libraries be equipped with things like, Aids preventive measures, pregnancy/ abortion, sex education, health care, business success and AIMING HIGHER in life.
When we can pressure the government ministry in charge of national game parks in relation to the amount of money that is generated by both tsavo east/west most of the issues that you have pointed out will be past tense.How can our county get its share of this money ,just like the other communities that border such resource?Its also important for wadawida to know their real story and not history.I did read a little about how we came about ,but am still searching for more. mazola wa mwashighadi
