TAITA TAVETA PROFESSIONALS FORUM (TTPF) CIVIC EDUCATION DAY – 23RD OCTOBER, 2010

To enable the citizens of Taita Taveta County participate and make contributions in the ongoing process of legislation and the overall effort of implementing the Constitution, TTPF members in the Forum together with well‐wishers felt the need that civic education be considered to be part and parcel of that process here in Nairobi and to work with other like minded forums in Mombasa, Taveta and Taita in the near future whom we have established contacts with for the progress of our County.

The overall objective of the Civic Education Day is to express our hopes and dreams about devolution of governance and resources in the new Republic of Kenya in relation to Taita Taveta County, on one hand; and, on the other, to articulate concerns and issues as Kenya embarks on the process of implementing the newly promulgated Constitution.

Specific objectives include:
  • Creating a common understanding on what the new Constitution says about devolution of governance and resources
  • Implications of devolved governance and resources to ordinary citizens in Taita Taveta County.
  • Clarity on issues and concerns that should inform and contribute towards the process of implementing theNew Constitution.
