Kenyatta High School Taita - plea by Gideon Kidegho

Wapwani hamjambo?

Last weekend I attended an AGM at the famous Kenyatta High School Mwatate. The school is a shadow of its old self. The performance good but could be made better.

What struck my attention is the way the school looked old with the wall paint faded and the sorrounding looking verywanting. During the meeting I kept asking my self whether the old boys ever came back to see their old school.

In the seventies I realy worked hard to get admission to KENYATTA HIGH SCHOOL MWATATE, but due to some avoidable circumnstances I did not qualify to be admitted there. The school was for the very smart guys like Mart, Cosy etc.

Last sartuday I wondered where the smart guys went, and promised myself to remind them of their old days, them days of the tough Principal SAM may God add him another 50 Years. I tried to use my fingures to count the friends I could remember; Profs Iddi,Julius,Mwamburi, Docs. wengi; Mwashimba, Mwalugha, Engineeers Mwakulo, Kimaro, Colns levi, Mwasi, our honourable Justice, Geologist wengi; Mart,Mwalugha and soon I realised I needed more to shift to my toes which were already covered by my shoes. I gave up counting and continued to wonder what these guys could do if they joined hands. The chief Pricncipal There Bwana Julius Ngondo and the board have tried their best. They need you people.

I looked at those young Judges, Engineers, Pilots, Geologists, Lawyers and all fields in the making with their parents in tarters and remembered the ALMMINI. Guys rise up to the occassion and propell this famours institution to where it belongs. Calls us to chip in as friends of the ALUMINI. I advised the PTA chair bwana Basil Maghanga to link up with you people.

Nisiwachoshe sana bwana simumenipata? Kazi Kwenu!

  1. Gideon, Kenyatta High School in Mwatate, has provided a good number of succesful graduates all over the world. Many are not concerned to send donations or contributions for several reasons regarding their experience. Mind you, all could not wait to escape or leave "Sorbibor", as they nicknamed it.

  2. Have u forgotten about the animal called corruption, still deeply rooted in Kenyatta? All the "back door" entries to Kenyatta, in the last 15 years up to today, is a mockery of the "real" old Kenyatta admissions on merit policy. Many donations have been poured into this institution including several donations that i made there, where is all this money going? can anyone explain the 20 desktop computers that i shipped there from the U.S.A (courtesy of dell) 2 years ago went? I visited there recently and not a single brand that i donated remained there. Where did they vanish too????

  3. My fellow Kenyans, I love the fact that we have taken to the information age and love sharing with each other. I think this is the beginning of bigger and better things. Ok, I read on Daily Nation that Uhuru Kenyatta's family owns almost 50% of Taita Taveta county?! This baffled me so I'm on a mission to get to the root of the truth. Could someone help me?! I'm at www.mitishamba.com

  4. Actually Uhurus family owns 3 quarters of Taveta And yet 85% of Taveta people are squatters. They chased away Basil Criticos, but nobody has said anything about this family. They also own a large tract of land in kizingo, shimba hills, Kwale, and northcoast regions. Soon mambo yatachemka! We are not sleeping anymore, we are watching the new developments of the justice systems, and land ownership rights in Kenya. The peoples power will prevail sooner or later.

  6. About the computers at kenyatta high school, nobody cares, the principal is less concerned about giving his own taitas it skills, just imagine a paltry 7 students siting computer at kcse out of 700! Mr Mwacharo, the real deputy, just a mere shadow, the real DP is a Mr. Mutungi who has made a fortune by doing business with the principal.
Mr Magak, the comp teacher, cannot get a computer repaired but Mutungi gets all printers, laptops, he needs in the name of examination analysis!!

Nyinyi mko huko inje mnaongea tu, kama ingekuwa ni huko kwetu () tungekuwa tumewatimua zamani.

Just imagine this school just manages to compete with some lowly schools.

The Board is just like any of the village schools.

Not to lie to you Ngondo is tired, old and being fleesed, and his non-taitas who surround his take advantage OF HIS HATERADE OF THE TAITAS.

Come around and see, a shoool with no single new building over the years.

An increase of 2400/= fess next term is unfair.

WATAITA JIKOMBOWENI!!! THIS IS POOR LEADERSHIP U HAVE SUFFERED FOR DECADES AND U STILL TOLERATE!

  8. Kenyatta High,Taita is a school with a Great vision. With this I mean the Students are like any other in the famous national schools; Alliance Schools, The Kenya High,Lenana School, Mang'u School, to name but a few. These students only need the leadership they deserve from the Authorities. The CORRUPT nature of those in office demoralises them even more. They have no say & if one attempts to revolt against the EVIL nature of the administration, then he should rest assured to get a full-time suspension.Teaching and the non-teaching staff likewise, they ought to collaborate with the HIGH OFFICES in whatever deal being sewed lest they lose their jobs. This is IMPUNITY OF THE HIGHEST ORDER!! No one should expect the same old boys who saw this happen during their time, to chip in and contribute towards the upliftment of the dilapidated school's infrastructure. What an IRONY! The only way to make KENYATTA HIGH, Mwatate a school of taste and preference for the Nation-to regain the old state,is to wipe off the Vermin that is killing the Famous school. Old boys can demand accountability and trust from the staff in whatever contributions made to the school's growth. I understand that we have Lawyers who are an Alumni of this School: their job in place so that fear is grilled into the minds of these reckless leaders. Anyone who mismanages the grants, THE WRITING IS ON THE WALL!!
